- The California Mental Health Planning Council will be having its quarterly meeting in Folsom, CA on October 13-15, 2009. Please note that the days of the week have shifted to Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The details for the meeting are provided at the following website. http://www.dmh.ca.gov/Mental_Health_Planning_Council/Meetings.asp In addition, the Planning Council will be holding a public hearing on a proposal for performance indicators for the Mental Health Services Act on October 14, 2009. Details about the public hearing and the proposal can also be found at the above referenced website.
- The California Mental Health Planning Council will be conducting a public hearing on comments from stakeholder community groups on the Memorandum of Understanding on Roles and Responsibilities under the Mental Health Services Act between the Department of Mental Health, the Mental Health Oversight and Accountability Commission, the California Mental Health Planning Council, and the California Mental Health Directors Association.
The public hearing will be held on September 22 from 1:30-4:00 at 2125 19th Street in the Sequoia Room. Conference call capability will be available. About MHSOAC
In November 2004, California voters passed Proposition 63, the
Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) with 53.4% of the vote.
The new law calls for the establishment of the Mental
Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission
(MHSOAC). Section 5845(a) of the Welfare and Institutions
Code defines the creation and composition of the Commission:
The Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission is hereby established to oversee Part 3, the Adults and Older Adults Systems of Care Act; Part 3.1, Human Resources; Part 3.2, Innovative Programs; Part 3.6, Prevention and Early Intervention Programs; and Part 4, the Children’s Mental Health Services Act. The Commission shall replace the advisory committee established pursuant to Section 5814.
