• Furloughs for State Employees
  
  On Thursday, January 29, 2009, the Governor’s executive authority to order furloughs for state employees was affirmed by the Sacramento County Superior Court. Pursuant to that decision, we are taking steps to implement the Administration’s plan to close state offices the first and third Fridays of the month, beginning February 6, 2009. At the same, a great deal of activity is taking place. There are continued court actions, conversations with unions, legislative interest and action by various state officials, which may or may not influence implementation. We will try to keep you apprised as things develop over the next week. Thank you for your hard work and dedication in these challenging times.
